An Unforgettable Valentines Dinner

Greetings Dear Hearts!

Valentines Day is approaching and here you will find
a few ideas I have featured in the past for a delightful evening of dining.

Created to provide a wonderful evening  with scrumptious food, delightful fellowship, and fun unexpected elements with beloved friends.

Being an enthusiast of colored glassware, I share with you the exquisite red Morgantown Monroe glassware that is an American design from the depression era of the 1900's. "Jackie Kennedy, as First Lady, choose a simple Morgantown glassware pattern as the official glassware pattern as the official crystal of the White House. After receiving this recognition, Morgantown marketed the pattern as "President's House" stemware." Here is a brief article about the company: Morgantown Glassware

Here is a close-up of the Monroe pattern:

Morgantown also manufactured another favorite pattern of mine known as the "Golf Ball Stem" glass.  That pattern comes in clear, ruby red, cobalt blue and emerald green as well as other colors.  It looks like this:

I was delighted to set a fun tablescape for my guests.  I loved the gold polka-dot tablecloth I found at HomeGoods.  This was my one-and-done time to use it however as some of the polka-dots came off when I laundered it!  I think I will make some wine bags with the fabric that remains unharmed.

Fresh and ceramic roses were selected to beautify the table which complemented the glassware perfectly.  Red napkins saved room on the table by being draped over the dinner plate and topped with the dessert plate and stemware.  Golden Clairhill stemware has been a long-time favorite of mine as it looks more elegant to me than the stamped floral patterns.  Those patterns look better in silver in my opinion.

I love a table adorned with red glassware. It brings a great deal of drama to a tablescape.

Gold embossed chargers were placed and paired with my cherished name card holders.

An easily removed "love" sticker was placed on the plate for Valentines fun.

Champagne flutes and fig jam were ready for crackers to join them and my guests along with the sweet "Love" napkins.

Kim Walker tea-ware was adorned with red roses and chocolate spoons for coffee.

Handmade garland and a felt heart pillow lent a warm homey look to our fireplace and family room gathering place.

Salad with poppy seed dressing, pepitas, and cranberries joined in the fun with candles aglow and wine ready to be poured.

For dessert, John's Chocolate Mousse was served topped with a plethora of raspberries and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Yummmmm!

The recipe can be found in my book "How To Host A Delightful Tea".  Page 44. See sidebar.

It's hard to get pictures of the main course!  We were busy indulging in Filet Mignon and lobster, asparagus, and heart shaped dinner rolls.

Designing tablescapes and dining with friends is one of my most favorite things to do.  I hope you enjoyed viewing. I am fascinated with Depression Era glass and love sharing it with you.  I love hearing about your favorite glassware, dishes, accessories, embellishments, menus and dining experiences too.
